One of the challenges of hiring is bringing different internal stakeholders together and finding a way to speak a common language.
Sometimes senior managers have ideas of what is involved in a role and expectations for outcomes, but the direct manager and team members are able to provide key insights into the challenges that a new hire will face.
While I’m not a fan of hiring by committee, being able to pool the insights of key stakeholders is truly powerful.
When we were going through the design process for the Recruitment Canvas, collaboration was a key goal.
A client who uses the Recruitment Canvas was recently sharing with us how they identified the role responsibilities and outcomes for a role and shared these with the other staff members who were able to add the key challenges and other responsibilities.
They explained how powerful it was for team members to contribute to the process because it created a sense of shared ownership for the success of the new hire.
How do you engage different internal stakeholders in your hiring process?
