In a previous post we looked at research showing how a company’s reputation as a place of work is a crucial point of consideration for candidates. Here are three companies that are doing a great job at making themselves attractive and building their employment reputation.
While you’ll notice that they are different in their approach, the thing that they all do well is to identify what is attractive about them and they communicate that. Here are a few things we love about what they’re doing.
hipages.com.au
http://www.hipagesgroup.com.au/our-team/ & http://www.hipagesgroup.com.au/careers/
We really love how highpages.com.au has kept things really simple. Their pictures give you a sense that working there is interesting and fun. They focus on what they offer candidates making you feel like it’s not “all take” from their side. Lastly, they highlight examples of they kind of things that you could expect working there eg. ping pong tournaments, netball comps, planking at 4pm, 10 week weight challenge, charity fundraisers.
highpages.com.au have done a great job in making themselves attractive, one recommendation would be include a link of these pages in their job ads.
JobAdvisor
http://www.jobadvisor.com.au/jobadvisor/working-with-us
JobAdvisor has a simple tile lay-out, making it easy for candidates to see lots of positives about the company at once. Photos of their beautiful office space and descriptions like “we have a casual office…jeans and t-shirt baby!” convey their culture and approach. One thing we really love about JobAdvisor’s page is that they make it clear what working there will be like – helping anyone who applies to already have a clear expectation of what they can expect.
Tyro Payments
http://tyro.com/jobs/
Tyro does a great job at communicating their identity as challengers to the normal finance industry – giving candidates a cause/mission they can get behind. Their pictures aren’t highly touched up or filtered which gives you a feeling of being down-to-earth and authentic. We love how Tyro have used a simple yet awesome video of employees talking about what it’s like to work there, further building a sense of authenticity. Finally Tyro has done a great job at highlighting these attractors in their job ads so that potential applicants have every opportunity to see what is attractive about working at Tyro.

Hey we can all learn from these three organisations. While I’m sure that there are challenges in your workplace (like surely there are in these three companies too), the key is to focus on what is attractive and communicating this simply and authentically. Get your team together, identify what is good about your workplace and then share it.
